Anne column, the inspiration

The idea for the Anne column was born while flipping through a family album filled with old black and white photos: in an Art Deco living room, there were two imposing columns on either side of a door. We then pondered this architectural and decorative element and its ubiquity in architecture, from ancient Egypt (which inspired our Palmette decoration) to the present day, and how it manages to lend majesty to any space. We liked the idea of creating one that could be inserted into any environment and we studied how to make it with one of our artisans; the first one was entirely hand-carved, and it took 2 months! We then sought a more efficient solution in terms of time and cost: solid lime wood is first assembled in the shape of the column and placed on a machine that traces the decorative design, which is then finished with hand carving. This last step, which takes a week per column, is essential to give depth and “soul” to the object and give it that uniqueness that only products with an artisan touch have. The colored mordants are then applied by hand with a cloth to create a matte and faded effect.

Our Anne columns create the atmosphere of a room in a discreet and elegant way; in an entrance, in the corner of a room, on either side of a door or a desk, they give a strong and refined personality to any environment.
